Structural Steel Section Head, Transportation Engineer 4, Office of Materials Management, PN 20050564

What You Will Do:

  • Management of the structural steel program.
  • Management of QPL/APL with Laboratory staff.
  • Review of shop drawings and make decisions for steel fabrication.
  • Work with Districts and Industry with regards to steel products.
  • Visit facilities and projects to assist with District/contractor needs.

  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively with ODOT partners.
  • Self-motivated and able to complete tasks on their own.
  • Detail oriented with review of plans and shop drawings.
  • Knowledgeable with regards to structural steel related materials and welding applications.

Licensed as registered professional engineer by Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 2 yrs. exp. as group or project leader or supervisor providing work direction & training to employees engaged in engineering projects or 2 yrs. exp. in managing engineering research projects (i.e., managing research projects applies only to staff specialist positions); if assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to & inspect project sites, must possess valid driver’s license.

-Or licensed as registered professional engineer by Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 12 mos. exp. as Transportation Engineer 3, 85643; if assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to & inspect project sites, must possess valid driver’s license.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated registration.
