Our client, a leader in industrial construction and structural engineering, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Structural Steel Quality Control Inspector to join their team. As a Structural Steel Quality Control Inspector, you will be an integral part of the Quality Assurance department supporting construction and engineering teams. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, which will align successfully within the organization.
Job Title: Structural Steel Quality Control Inspector
Location: Robstown, TX
Pay Range: $38hr-$42hr
Shift: 1st shift - Days
Inspect structural steel fabrication, erection, and installation in accordance with specifications, drawings, and applicable codes and standards.
Perform visual weld inspections, fit-up, joint prep, preheat/interpass, and verify WPS/PQR compliance.
Witness and coordinate Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) activities such as UT, MT, PT, RT on structural welds and base materials.
Inspect high-strength bolted connections, verifying bolt grade, size, and proper installation per project specifications.
Maintain comprehensive inspection records, weld logs, NDE reports, and material traceability documentation to support quality assurance processes.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a structural QC inspector on large-scale industrial projects.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents, drawings, and specifications effectively.
Solid knowledge of quality control programs and construction codes such as AWS, AISC 360, and RCSC.
Proficiency with inspection tools and testing methods, including weld gauges, calipers, and bolt tension calibrators.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate issues and corrective actions clearly to team members and supervisors.
