Two years of steel fitting experience preferred; second shift carries a 10% differential. Starting pay is $21.00 per hour, with higher pay based on experience.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of structural steel fitting or fabrication experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret structural steel blueprints, fabrication drawings, shop drawings, and weld symbols.
• Practical knowledge of steel layout, measurement, fit-up, cutting, and assembly processes.
• Familiarity with fabrication tools, measuring devices, and shop equipment.
• Ability to handle heavy steel materials and stand for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail, commitment to workplace safety, and ability to work effectively with a team.

Responsibilities

• Review structural steel blueprints, shop drawings, weld symbols, and layout specifications.
• Measure, mark, cut, fit, and assemble structural steel components, including beams, columns, stairs, railings, and miscellaneous metalwork.
• Operate fabrication equipment such as ironworkers, mag drills, band saws, grinders, oxy-fuel torches, and plasma cutters.
• Prepare steel components and tack assemblies for welding and subsequent production steps.
• Safely operate overhead cranes and material-handling equipment and use proper rigging techniques.
• Check dimensions, alignment, squareness, and fit-up accuracy before welding.
• Use appropriate measuring instruments, hand tools, and shop machinery to complete fabrication tasks.
• Maintain an orderly work area and follow safety procedures while meeting production deadlines.

Starting Pay: $21.00/hour, with higher pay depending on experience

Schedule: First and second shifts available; some Saturdays required

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Review structural steel blueprints, shop drawings, weld symbols, and layout specifications.

• Operate fabrication equipment such as ironworkers, magnetic drills (mag drills), band saws, grinders, oxy-fuel torches, and plasma cutters.

• Prepare steel components and tack assemblies for welding and subsequent production steps.

• Safely operate overhead cranes and material-handling equipment and use proper rigging techniques.

• Check dimensions, alignment, squareness, and fit-up accuracy before welding.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Two or more years of structural steel fitting or fabrication experience preferred.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) in structural steel fabrication.

• Experience welding in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.

• Previous experience operating overhead cranes and performing rigging tasks.

Work Schedule and Pay

• First- and second-shift opportunities are available.

• Second-shift employees receive an additional 10% shift differential.

• Some Saturday work is required.

• Starting pay is $21.00 per hour, with the opportunity for higher compensation based on experience.
