Experience in structural steel is preferred but not required; transferable fitting or metalworking experience is welcome. This contract-to-hire position operates on 1st or 2nd shift with safety-focused work practices.

Qualifications

• Read blueprints and technical drawings to determine layout and assembly requirements.
• Measure, cut, and prepare materials using hand tools and shop equipment.
• Fit, align, and assemble structural steel components to project specs.
• Operate shop tools including torches, plasma cutters, drill presses, and presses.
• Inspect finished assemblies for accuracy and quality.

Structural Steel Fitter

Location: Cocoa, FL

Job Type: Contract-to-Hire

Shifts Available: 1st and 2nd Shift

Pay Rate: Up to $26.00/hour, depending on experience

2nd Shift Differential: Additional $3.00/hour

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Structural Steel Fitter to join our team. This role involves reading and interpreting blueprints, measuring and preparing materials, and fitting, aligning, and assembling steel components to meet precise specifications.

Structural steel fitting experience is preferred but not required. Candidates with transferable experience in fitting, fabrication, metalworking, or similar manufacturing roles are encouraged to apply.

This is an entirely shop-based position. No travel or fieldwork is required.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications & Skills

• Proven experience as a Structural Steel Fitter or in a similar role.
• Structural steel fitting experience is preferred but not a strict requirement.
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Ability to measure, cut, align, and assemble steel components accurately.
• Familiarity with shop tools and equipment, including torches, plasma cutters, and presses.
• Excellent attention to detail and precision.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Commitment to workplace safety practices and procedures.

Additional Requirements

• Must be willing to undergo a pre-employment drug test and/or background check, as applicable.
• Must be able to work in a shop-based manufacturing environment.
• Must be available for either 1st or 2nd shift.
