Job summary

Lockport Steel is seeking a skilled Structural Steel Fabricator for our Midwest operations. You will read shop drawings, lay out and fabricate steel components, and prepare assemblies for welding while maintaining strict quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities include operating fabrication equipment, handling materials with cranes and forklifts, and ensuring dimensional accuracy per project specs. Join a team focused on craftsmanship, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 2+ years structural steel fabrication experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret structural steel drawings.
• Proficiency with measuring tools and shop equipment.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret structural steel fabrication drawings, blueprints, and work orders.
• Measure, mark, lay out, cut, drill, cope, grind, and fit structural steel components.
• Fabricate beams, columns, braces, trusses, stairs, platforms, handrails, and assemblies.
• Assemble components in preparation for welding and inspection.
• Verify dimensions and ensure assemblies conform to drawings and specs.
• Operate fabrication equipment (saws, drill presses, ironworkers, grinders, etc.).
• Move material with cranes and forklifts; conduct quality checks throughout fabrication.
• Maintain schedules, ensure safety and cleanliness, assist welders and team.
