Job summary

Qualdoc in Arlington, TN is seeking a Structural Steel Fabricator to measure, cut, fit, and assemble steel components in our fabrication shop. You will read blueprints, verify layouts, and operate fabrication tools to produce quality weld-ready parts. Qualifications

• Two or more years of structural steel fitting or fabrication experience preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and weld symbols.
• Knowledge of steel layout, measurement, cutting, fit-up, and assembly.
• Familiarity with fabrication tools, measuring devices, and shop equipment.
• Ability to handle heavy steel materials and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret structural steel blueprints, shop drawings, fabrication plans, and weld symbols.
• Measure, mark, cut, fit, and assemble beams, columns, stairs, railings, and other steel components.
• Operate ironworkers, magnetic drills, band saws, grinders, oxy-fuel torches, and plasma cutters.
• Prepare steel parts and tack assemblies for welding.
• Check dimensions, alignment, squareness, and fit-up before welding.
• Operate overhead cranes and material-handling equipment using proper rigging practices.
• Use measuring instruments, hand tools, and shop machinery to complete fabrication work.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow safety procedures while meeting production deadlines.
