Job summary

PVBFabrications, Inc. is seeking an entry-level Structural Steel Estimator to support fabrication estimating and multi-disciplinary projects. This role provides hands-on training in takeoffs, pricing, and bid preparation.

The estimator will assist with quantity takeoffs, material pricing, fabrication labor estimates, vendor quotations, and proposal development while collaborating with shop and project teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred.
• Estimating, fabrication, construction internship or steel industry experience beneficial but not required.
• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Review structural drawings, specifications, bills of material, and bid documents.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for structural steel, miscellaneous metals, plate, and connections.
• Prepare material pricing and fabrication labor estimates.
• Request and evaluate pricing from steelsuppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Assist with estimating detailing, coatings, freight, testing, and other fabrication requirements.
• Develop estimate summaries, bid documents, and proposal information.

PositionSummary

PVBFabrications,Inc.(PVB),adirect-hire,multi-disciplinedindustrialconstructionandmetalfabricationcompany,isseekinganentrylevelorearlycareerStructuralSteelEstimatortosupportstructuralsteelfabricationestimating.

ThispositionisintendedforarecentgraduateordevelopingestimatorwhocanbetrainedwithinPVB’sestimatingandfabricationprocesses.Theestimatorwillassistwithquantitytakeoffs,materialpricing,fabricationlaborestimates,vendorquotations,biddocumentation,andproposalpreparation.

ThepositionwillworkcloselywiththeEstimatingDepartment,ShopOperationsManager,ProjectManagers,andfabricationpersonnel.

PrimaryResponsibilities

• Reviewstructuraldrawings,specifications,billsofmaterial,andbiddocuments.
• Performquantitytakeoffsforstructuralsteel,miscellaneousmetals,plate,connections,andrelatedmaterials.
• Preparematerialpricingandfabricationlaborestimates.
• Requestandevaluatepricingfromsteelsuppliers,vendors,andsubcontractors.
• Assistwithestimatingdetailing,coatings,freight,testing,andotherfabricationrequirements.
• Identifyscopegaps,drawingconflicts,exclusions,andrequiredclarifications.

• Coordinatewithshoppersonnelregardingfabricationmethods,laborrequirements,equipment,production,andschedule.
• Participateinestimatereviewsandprojecthandoffmeetings.
• Developtheskillsnecessarytosupportmorecomplexfabricationandmultidisciplinaryestimatesovertime.

PreferredQualifications

• Bachelor’sdegreeinConstructionManagement,Engineering,orarelatedfieldispreferred.
• Previousestimating,fabrication,construction,internship,orsteelindustryexperienceisbeneficialbutnotrequired.
• Abilitytoreadordeveloptheabilitytoreadstructuraldrawingsandspecifications.
• Basicunderstandingofstructuralsteelfabricationandconstructionispreferred.
• Strongmathematical,organizational,andanalyticalskills.
• ProficiencywithMicrosoftOfficeplatforms(Word,Excel,PowerPoint,etc.).
• Abilitytocommunicateandcoordinatewithvendors,projectmanagers,andoperationspersonnel.
• WillingnesstolearnPVB’sestimating,fabrication,andproposalprocesses.
