Qualifications

  • Valid state driver's license required.
  • Comfortable working in wildlife environments.
  • Able to travel up to 60% of the time with overnight stays.
  • Comfortable working outdoors around wildlife.
  • Willing to travel up to 60% (overnight stays possible).
  • Able to lift 50 lb regularly.
  • Able to set up and load ladders up to 28 ft solo.
  • Able to climb ladders and work at height.
  • Follow PPE and safety protocols.
  • Familiar with MS Office; willing to learn other PM tools.

Responsibilities

  • Install bird deterrence and exclusion solutions.
  • Clean bird fecal matter and trap birds.
  • Communicate with team regularly on job status.
  • Coordinate with team and report job status; travel to multiple sites across the Midwest.

Job description

Position Overview

This position performs a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: installing bird deterrence and exclusion solutions, cleaning bird fecal matter, trapping birds, and explaining or representing the company and our science-based solutions to customers.

Structural technicians spend at least half of their time onsite at customer locations, installing, maintaining, or evaluating solutions. While not in the field, technicians are expected to meet regularly with the Wild Goose Chase team (virtually or in person) to communicate on status of jobs, receive future assignments, contribute feedback and ideas to improve team processes, etc.

Key Requirements

To perform tasks associated with this role, the candidate needs to be based out of the Midwest, but willing to travel by car and airplane across the U.S. to service customers. Candidates based in the Chicago metro area, Indianapolis metro area, Milwaukee metro area, and Detroit metro area are preferred. An ideal candidate would be an outdoors man or woman, comfortable working with wildlife, and/or a trades person comfortable working with handheld and power tools for structural installations. This job is well suited for someone interested in variety in their day-to-day. We’re looking for hands‑on problem solvers and collaborative team-players with can‑do attitudes.

Qualifications
  • Have a valid state driver's license.
  • Have a clean MVR (driving record)
  • Be drug & substance free.
  • Must be comfortable working in environments where there is wildlife (birds) present.
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Be able to travel up to 60% of the time. Travel may include overnight stays (paid for by company).
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move 50 pounds.
  • Be able to safely carry, set up, and load/unload ladders up to 28 feet by yourself.
  • Be able to safely climb and work from fixed, extension, and step ladders of varying heights.
  • Be able to bend, stoop, and kneel multiple times throughout the day to carry and install equipment and materials.
  • Be able to safely use a variety of fall protection and PPE equipment.
  • Be able to pass a medical evaluation and fit test for respirator use.
  • Be familiar with and able to operate a variety of handheld and power tools.
  • With training, be able to operate and work from aerial man lifts
  • With training, be able to load, hook up, and safely tow trailers with appropriate vehicles
  • Candidates need to be comfortable working at heights.
  • Be able to keep safety top priority and take proper safety measures depending on the circumstance (such as wearing proper PPE).
  • Have a professional appearance, including a company uniform while working.
  • Be familiar with and comfortable utilizing Microsoft Suite solutions, including, but not limited to, Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Teams etc.
  • Open to learning and utilizing other project management software as required.
