Overview

Janssen & Spaans Engineering (JSE) is looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team! This role will provide engineering excellences, plans, identifies, prioritizes, tracks and monitors tasks and sequences in the process to produce the desired outcome. The ideal candidate will have a Master’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering and five (5) or more years’ experience in bridge design. This person will be the point of contact for local, state, and federal projects, interface with clients and employees to track design progress throughout the life of the project. These responsibilities include but are not limited to: Scheduling, Employee engagement, producing Cost Effective designs on time and under budget, and Evaluate Quality of Performance.

JSE provides design services on typical and complex bridge projects for just about every type of bridge imaginable.

Job Responsibilities

Design-Build, P3, DOT, and local municipality projects
Act as team lead on bridge design projects (as required)
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3-D, MicroStation, MODELING (BIM), Leap Bridge, Merlin Dash/MDX, Load Rating Software, Mathcad, and other structural analysis software
Work with CAD technicians to develop bridge plans and submittals
Follow state design standards and guidelines for developing projects
Coordinate with other design team members
Direct and mentor junior engineers in the preparation of calculations, plans, specifications, technical reports, and cost estimates
Travel (as required)

Qualifications

Professional Engineering License (Required)
Minimum five (5) years’ experience
Design-Build, P3, DOT, and local municipality experience required
Experience with Modeling (BIM), AutoCAD, Civil 3-D, MicroStation, Leap Bridge, Merlin Dash/MDX, Load Rating Software, Mathcad, and other structural analysis software
Hands-on experience in all aspects of bridge design projects (including computer structure modeling)
In depth knowledge of DOT and AASHTO standards
Strong leadership and communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
Strong communication skills and capability to work autonomously and in a team environment
Department of Transportation project experience (Preferred)
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to identify and manage risk
Previous structural modeling experience
Ability to establish, influence, and maintain relationships with key partners
