Job Summary

This position is responsible for the supervision of the Structural Section reporting to the Structural Department Manager. It provides both technical and administrative supervision to the section to ensure that technical, administrative, direct labor and schedule targets are met in accordance with applicable professional standards, design control procedures, company procedures and technical design guides. The role coordinates project priorities, staffing schedules, budgets and staff assignments to ensure clients receive the best design capabilities to meet their needs.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for daily coordination and supervision of assigned members.
  • Assigns and coordinates project priorities, workload planning, staffing schedules and assignments.
  • Coordinates and monitors direct/indirect labor utilization among section staff. Ensures that resource loading calendars are completed on a timely basis.
  • Responsible for quality control of work produced by the section, ensuring staff adhere to established standards, procedures and policies.
  • Provides input to the Department Manager on hiring, salaries, promotion, transfer, demotion and termination of section members.
  • Assists with staff development, recommending opportunities for training and career development activities.
  • Supports the Department Manager in monitoring financial key performance indicators for the section including utilization and project performance.
  • Works with project managers and senior section members to support business development and marketing activities.
  • Ensures that project assignments for the section are completed on schedule and within budget parameters.
  • Contributes to project work involving the design of substation steel structures and foundations for substations and transmission lines.
  • Determines client requirements and develops reports, specifications, drawings, instructions and related documents.
  • Performs other functions delegated by the Department Manager.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 8 years relevant experience in the discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
