Thalle is currently seeking an experienced and motivated candidate to fill a Construction Project Engineer position on a 6 Year, $375M (+) USACE Lock and Dam project located on scenic Kentucky Lake in Grand Rivers, Kentucky. This is a full-time on-site position reporting directly to the Project Manager to perform management duties to support the site Operations Team. This role will interact with a variety of staff at all levels and uphold a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.

Overview:

The Project Engineer is responsible for ensuring projects proceed safely, accurately, and smoothly. This position reports to, collaborates with, and follows the direction of the Project Manager and Superintendent.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily reports, monitor daily work activities for production, and schedule tracking.
  • Create and manage pertinent construction documentation such as submittals, RFI’s, change orders, notifications, and correspondence.
  • Strong written and verbal skills pertinent in developing and maintaining client, owner, subcontractor, and vendor relationships.
  • Complete daily production entries and ensure proper phase codes are applied to equipment and labor entries.
  • Complete equipment usage reports and assign proper equipment cost codes.
  • Ensure proper completion of equipment return/receipt reports.
  • Preparation of written work plans for site specific construction activities.
  • Obtain, evaluate, submit, and track all submittals to owners.
  • Prepare monthly pay requests for Project Manager approval.
  • Documentation and preparation of change order requests.
  • Obtain material quotes from suppliers, prepare 3 quote comparisons, and submit purchase orders for approval.
  • Schedule material deliveries and maintain site inventories.
  • Track invoices, receipts for field purchase orders, and maintain field purchase order files.
  • Proficient in interpreting information from heavy civil construction plans and specifications.
  • Maintain construction schedule updates in P6.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience as a Project Engineer, Field Engineer, or QC Tech on heavy civil projects.
  • Primavera CPM scheduling, similar, or CAD knowledge.
  • Ability to work with a fast-paced team in an aggressive construction environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience working on USACE projects.
  • Experience supervising operations teams is preferred.
  • Strong ability to multitask, work independently under pressure, and within tight deadlines.
  • Subject to background check and drug testing.
  • Prior heavy civil site project experience such as water control, levee, concrete, and mass excavation experience.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to move freely about a construction site that at times presents a demanding terrain including, but not limited to climbing of ladders and stair towers, uneven and often wet surfaces, and slopes.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
