Position Summary

Responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate assignments with limited supervision. Acts as a technical advisor to less experienced engineers.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of engineering work in projects of moderate scope.
  • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other data to plan projects.
  • Perform design computations.
  • Design projects in accordance with client specifications, using design software and drawing tools.
  • Develop construction cost estimates.
  • Assist in preparing engineering documents for advertisement and construction.
  • Prepare and compile contract plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Manage project sub-consultants and internal support disciplines.
  • Develop extra work order requests and open-end contract proposals.
  • Prepare proposals as required.
  • Attend meetings with clients.
  • Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by deadlines and quality standards.
  • Lead and manage team members by providing leadership, setting expectations, goals, feedback, coaching, and supporting growth and development.
Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 5-10 years of experience in a specialized discipline.
  • Proficient in discipline-specific design software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong written and communication skills.
Preferred Experience
  • Professional Engineer License.
  • Experience working with local clients at county and state levels.
Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily in an office environment (95%), with occasional field work outside in various weather conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required.
