Job summary

Salas O’Brien in Lakewood, CO is seeking a Structural Project Engineer to join our growing team. You will lead multi-discipline projects across data centers, healthcare, and commercial buildings, mentoring engineers and coordinating client design issues.

We value hands-on leadership, a PE license, and experience with concrete, steel, and soil-structure interactions. Travel is up to 10% and base salary ranges from $110k to $125k plus bonuses and benefits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in consulting structural engineering with commercial building focus.
• 2+ years of experience in a management role overseeing similar breadth and depth of structural engineering services.
• Registered as a Professional Engineer in good standing.
• ABET accreditation and PE licensure are preferred qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Interact with clients regarding technical design issues, coordination of document preparation, and submittal schedules.
• Manage engineering team members in a fast-paced environment.
• Mentor and train younger engineers and team members.
• Oversee production of engineering documents such as reports, calculations, 3D models and drawings that are complete and technically accurate.
• Utilize and train others in design software such as RISA, RAM, Concept, Bluebeam, and REVIT to produce construction drawings.

Job Summary: Our office in Lakewood, CO is looking for a Structural Project Engineer to work with our dynamic team. We specialize in the design of industrial and commercial buildings including data centers, mechanical infrastructure, schools, healthcare, police and fire stations, office buildings, worship spaces, industrial facilities, petrochemical control buildings, luxury resorts, and more. Our design professionals support projects all over the US and integrate with multi-discipline engineering teams on a wide array of projects. Responsibilities:

Specific duties will include:

• Interact with clients regarding technical design issues, coordination of document preparation, and submittal schedules
• Manage engineering team members in a fast-paced environment
• Mentor and train younger engineers and team members

Qualifications and Experience:

Successful candidates will possess the following:

• 5+ years of experience in consulting structural engineering with commercial building focus
• 2+ years of experience in a management role overseeing similar breadth and depth of structural engineering services offered by Salas O’Brien
• Registered as a Professional Engineer in good standing
• The desire to work towards the Company's goal of excellent and timely service.
• Experience in the following commercial building construction systems is required:
• Reinforced and post-tensioned concrete
• Reinforced masonry
• Structural steel and composite steel
• Shallow, deep and raft foundations
• Concrete, masonry and wood shear wall systems
• Steel braced frame and moment frame systems
• Experience in the following is a plus:
• Registered Structural Engineer
• Business Development
• Seismic design categories D, E and F
• Extreme wind loading
• Blast-resistant structures
• Flood resistant structures
• Advanced degree
• Strong time management skills and self-starter a must
• Ability to learn from, and work with other team members
• ABET accredited Bachelor's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering

Travel: Up to 10%

The expected base salary range for this role is $110,000.00 - $125,000USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
