Job summary

Stratus is a multidisciplinary engineering and design firm hiring a Project Engineer to assist the Project Manager with design and analysis of structures, and with contract administration duties.

The role involves developing plans, performing material analyses, ensuring code compliance, and keeping project schedules. A Bachelor's in Civil Engineering and 3–6 years of experience are required, with proficiency in RISA Suite, Enercalcs, and MS Excel. Hybrid work is offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 3–6 years of experience.
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills, detail-oriented.
  • Proficient with structural design software: RISA Suite, Enercalcs, MS Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development, preparation, and finalization of project documents.
  • Responsible for contract administration duties, such as responding to RFIs and checking shop drawings/submittals.
  • Designs load-bearing structures or structural elements.
  • Performs analysis of building materials for use in construction.
  • Develops plans and specifications for use during construction and ensures compliance with codes and regulations.
  • Determines root causes of structural failures and damages via site investigations.
  • Produces reports detailing investigations and assessments.
  • Demonstrates commitment to delivering outstanding service to the design team and clients.
  • Takes ownership to resolve problems or find someone who can.
  • Listens well, asks clarifying questions, and confirms alignment with team and client.
  • Follows up with clients in a timely manner.
  • Maintains accountability and professional communication.

The Role
The Project Engineer is responsible for assisting the Project Manager with design and analysis of structures or structural elements, providing contract administrative duties associated with the project, routine correspondence, field dimensioning, and meeting project schedules.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development, preparation, and finalization of project documents.
  • Responsible for contract administration duties, such as responding to RFI’s, and checking shop drawings / submittals.
  • Designs load-bearing structures or structural elements.
  • Performs analysis of building materials for use in construction.
  • Develops plans and specifications for use during construction and ensures all projects comply with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Determines cause of structural failures, damages, and defects through site investigations.
  • Provides reports detailing investigations and assessment of damages to the structure.
  • Demonstratescommitment to deliver outstandingservice– both with design team and external clients
  • Takes ownership to personally resolve problems (or find someone who can)
  • Listens well, asks clarifying questions, and checks for agreement with team and client
  • Committed to following up with clients in all instances in a timely manner
  • Strong sense of accountability - ensures that you will do what you say that you are going to do

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • 3 – 6 years' experience
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills, detail-oriented
  • Proficient with various structural design software (RISA Suite, Enercalcs, MS Excel)
  • Earns trust and takes additional ownership of projects, results and customer service
  • Takes responsibility for many vendor and customer relationships
  • Understands jobsite environment and reviews jobsite progress with little to no supervision
  • Ability to lead an assignment/special project from start to finish
