Job summary

Nucor Buildings Group in Illinois is seeking a machine operator for 3rd shift (8p–6a, Sun–Thu) at the El Paso, IL site. You will operate CNC presses, plasma, band saws, lasers, welders, and related equipment, read prints, and move material with overhead cranes.

Safety and teamwork are essential. Must read a tape measure, follow LOTOTO, and learn new machines. Nucor offers profit sharing and a no-layoff culture to support long-term careers.

All Nucor teammates also qualify for profit sharing.

Basic Job Functions:

American Buildings Company - Illinois, a Nucor Company is seeking qualified applicants for the position of machine operator. We are hiring for third shift 8p-6a Su-Th on various machines. The successful candidate must be able to perform the following: but not limited to:

• Operational knowledge of machines and process in the structural Hot Rolled department such as but not limited to plasma robot, automated shot blaster, band saws, lazers, welding, crane operation, computers / window systems, shear, auto beam welder, plate line, flange lines, tack station, small parts, CNC plasma, paint line, welding, crane and mobile equipment operation)
• A commitment to go where the help is needed with a positive attitude.
• Identify areas for improvement and make timely suggestions to appropriate leadership.
• Learn new machines and processes as needed.
• Operate CNC presses/punches, CNC plasma, and any other equipment as needed on diversified work.
• Work from prints, cutting list, verbal and/or written orders.
• Properly use scale, square, protractor, tape measure and other required tools.
• Maintain necessary records such as but not limited to; preventative maintenance and inventory tracking. Inspect, detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions.
• Move material with overhead cranes, forklifts, pallet jacks, etc. as necessary in the performance of duties or as directed.
• Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
• Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain quality standards.
• Perform other related duties as requested.

Minimum Requirements:

• Must have complete working knowledge and understand of how to read and use a tape measure
• A demonstrated commitment to Safety in all job aspects
• Familiarity with Windows Operating Systems
• Basic knowledge and understanding of LOTOTO program
• Flexibility to operate on all shifts pending department needs
• A demonstrated history of ability to contribute effectively in a team environment
• A shown focus on continuous improvevment efforts
• Evidence of strong written and verbal communication skills
• A positive can-do attitude*Must be able to train on 1st shift before moving to 3rds*

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous knowledge of CNC Robot/Machines and Saws
• Problem solving skills and root cause analysis
• Ability to facilitate proactive decision-making skills on both ends of the line
