Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. seeks a Structural Intern to join our structural engineering team, supporting bridges, culverts, and other public infrastructure projects.

You will collaborate with DOTs, counties, and municipalities, applying coursework to real-world designs and learning from senior engineers. The role involves assisting with analyses, bridge plans, and construction documents, while gaining proficiency in industry software.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in ABET-accredited undergrad engineering program in Civil or Structural Eng.
• Effective verbal and written communication; professional interaction with clients and team.
• Willingness to learn in a flexible, cross-disciplinary environment.
• Willingness to attend site visits and work outdoors when required.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Assist with structural analysis and design calculations for bridges, culverts, and retaining structures.
• Support preparation of structural plans, details, and quantities for construction documents.
• Review shop drawings and construction submittals against project design specs.
• Coordinate with internal and external team members to ensure effective communication and progress.
• Travel to project sites to gather field data and interface with clients and agency staff.
