Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking Engineering students to join our Virginia Beach, VA office for an on-site internship. This role focuses on supporting structural design projects, preparing plans, specs and estimates, and using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Excel, Microstation, and other software.

You will learn and apply regulations and company standards while collaborating across disciplines to deliver client solutions. Hourly rate is $27–$28, reflecting internship compensation.

Qualifications

• Pursuing ABET-accredited engineering degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Civil/Environmental, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Biological, Biosystems, Chemical or Agricultural Engineering or Engineering Technology.

Responsibilities

• Utilize technical software to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables for clients.
• Contribute to pre-construction on structural projects like bridges and retaining walls.
• Prepare bridge/structural plans, specifications and estimates for clients.
• Solve complex problems and assist project managers across disciplines.
• Develop familiarity with regulations and Kimley-Horn’s practices and standards.
