Job summary

Wilson Engineers, an Arizona-based consulting firm, seeks an experienced Structural Inspector to join the Tempe office. The role focuses on providing on-site inspection for Phoenix-area projects, reviewing plans, and coordinating with owners and contractors.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in construction inspection, familiarity with means and methods, and experience with submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings. OSHA 30-hour and a valid AZ driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in the Construction Industry as a Structural Inspector, Field Engineer, or similar.
  • Knowledge of construction means & methods and quality control measures; water/wastewater construction a plus.
  • Experience with Submittals, Shop Drawings, and RFIs coordination.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite construction inspection for projects located throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area.
  • Review project plans and specifications to develop a comprehensive understanding of the project.
  • Coordinate in the field with Owners, Contractors and 3rd-party material testing agencies.
  • Prepare Daily reports to document construction progress, changes and as-built conditions.

As a high-growth firm, Wilson Engineers offers the opportunity to work on impactful and technically challenging projects alongside a talented and passionate team. We are currently seeking an experienced Structural Inspector to join our Tempe, Arizona office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Proactive and self-motivated individual, able to meet challenging time constraints and work independently and as part of a team
  • Review project plans and specifications to develop a comprehensive understanding of the project
  • Provide onsite construction inspection for projects located throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area
  • Coordinate in the field with the project Owners, Contractors and 3rd-party material testing agencies
  • Communicate effectively with Structural Engineering staff who supervise work in progress
  • Prepare Daily reports to document construction progress, changes and as-built conditions
Requirements
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience working in the Construction Industry as a Structural Inspector, Field Engineer, or similar
  • Knowledge of construction means & methods and quality control measures, along with knowledge and experience in water/wastewater construction is a plus
  • Experience with construction Submittals, Shop Drawings, and RFI coordination
  • Computer experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook software capabilities
  • Minimum one ICC Certification (Reinforced Concrete, Structural Masonry, Structural Steel and Bolting, and Structural Welding) and willingness to obtain others within one year
  • OSHA 30-hour training
  • Requires a valid Arizona driver’s license and good driving record
  • Undergraduate degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or similar is a plus, but not required
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification (or ability to obtain within one year), with demonstrated experience inspecting structural steel fabrication, and welding procedures is a plus.
