Job summary

Austin External is seeking a cautious, hands-on individual to assist pipefitters in laying out, assembling, installing, and maintaining pipe systems for industrial production in Borger, Texas. You will support crews with measurements, materials, and fittings to ensure safe, efficient operations.

Responsibilities include cutting, threading, drilling, mounting hangers, and assisting with valves and fittings, plus disassembly of damaged pipe and general maintenance. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Experience – 6+ months in an industrial setting preferred.
• Must be able to read blueprints and follow instructions.
• Must be able to lift and move heavy materials and operate basic hand tools.

• Assist pipefitters to lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems.
• Cut, thread, and hammer pipe using saws and pipe threaders.
• Drill holes and mount pipe hangers and brackets.
• Assist with installing valves, couplings, and fittings.
• Disassemble damaged pipe and perform maintenance as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

This person will assist pipefitters and pipe fabricators to lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production and processing systems. Other duties may be assigned.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Cut, thread, and hammer pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders and benders.
• Cuts or drills holes in walls to permit passage of pipes, using pneumatic drill.
• Selects specific type and size of pipe.
• Mounts pipe hangers and brackets to hold pipe.
• Assists Pipefitter to install valves, couplings, and other fittings.
• May disassemble and remove damage or worn pipe.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required for this Position:

Experience – 6+ months experience in an Industrial setting preferred.
