Job description

The essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • oversees/supervises daily work activities with personnel
  • plans work activities in accordance with construction schedule and budgets
  • assigns manpower to work activities
  • adheres to schedule objectives, cost and quality
  • ensures personnel have resources to perform tasks (equipment, tools, material)
  • prepares/submits project status and progress of all NC projects weekly at task level
  • participates in review of project labor and material costs
  • coordinates material needs at job site
  • reads and analyzes charts, work orders, or production schedules to determine production requirements
  • interprets specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers
  • confers with supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within crafts or between crafts, getting members of a group to work together to accomplish tasks (to include sub-contractors)
  • coordinates production with other supervisors, trades, quality assurance and management
  • recommends or implements measures to motivate employees and improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency
  • confers with superintendent to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances
  • examines and inspects work progress, equipment and construction sites to verify safety and ensure that specifications are met
  • trains workers in construction methods and operation of equipment
  • provides guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance
  • evaluates team performance, assists in employee performance evaluations
  • identifies deficiencies and potential problem areas and initiates corrective action
  • monitors performance to safety policies
  • complies with organization and departmental administrative procedures
  • assists in development and implementation of production procedures and processes
  • requisitions materials and supplies
  • suggests and initiates personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, and hires
  • other responsibilities and duties as assigned

  • the ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing, giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
  • ability to read and interpret project related documents and spreadsheets
  • ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • the ability to choose the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem

Education and/or Experience

  • high school diploma or equivalent, or
  • degree or certificate from an accredited technical college or school, or
  • minimum of five years related experience and/or training in manufacturing environment
  • or equivalent combination of education and experience
