Job summary

Automation Personnel Services is seeking a Fitter to work in a heavy industrial environment in Louisiana. The role involves fitting and aligning steel components for hulls, tanks, and structures, reading blueprints, and preparing materials for welding. You will also cut, shape, and inspect parts to ensure accurate fits before welding begins.

Typical schedule is Mon–Fri with hourly pay of $25–$26 depending on experience. Benefits include weekly pay, medical/dental/vision, and retirement options.

Qualifications

• Prior experience fitting steel in an industrial environment.
• Able to lift and move heavy materials typically 50 to 75 pounds.
• Must stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch and work in a physically demanding environment.
• Dependable, follow safety procedures, and work well with others.

Responsibilities

• Fit and align steel components for hull replacements, tanks, and structural assemblies.
• Read and interpret measurements, blueprints and work instructions for proper fit.
• Prepare materials, organize workspaces, and ensure components are ready for welding.
• Assist with cutting and shaping steel using oxy-acetylene or similar tools.
• Inspect fitted components to ensure accuracy before welding begins.
• Assist with general fitter duties including material handling and project prep.
