Position Details

• Title: 1st Class Structural Fitter
• Type: Full-time, Non-Exempt, Hourly
• Reports to: General Superintendent/Fabrication Manager
• Location: Jacksonville, FL

Job Objective

To possess experienced working knowledge of industrial structural fitting, assembly, welding, blueprint reading, measurements, and job specifications to build a complete erection system.

Essential Functions

• Understand job specifications, blueprint reading, measurements, and torque requirements for large industrial structural steel systems.
• Cut, prep, fit, and tack small to large components (HSS, angles, W-members, flat plates) adhering to fit tolerances.
• Select, measure, and prepare metal surfaces for welding using various tools.
• Install structural supports, hangers, and braces from temporary to final positions.
• Operate overhead cranes and forklifts safely.
• Direct and monitor helpers as needed.
• Document quality reports per SEA standards.
• Follow safety policies and wear PPE as per OSHA standards.
• Prepare for ISO 9001 and other audits.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Work is conducted in fabrication facilities and construction sites, with exposure to fumes, mechanical parts, vibration, and loud noise. Physical activities include standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, and visual acuity.

Work Hours & Travel

Full-time, first or second shifts, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends. Local travel only.

Requirements

• Basic math and language skills.
• 5+ years of related experience or training in threading, grinding, welding, brazing, rigging, plasma cutting.
• Preferred: 6+ years in industrial structural fitting, tack welding skills, vocational training.
