Job summary

Schuff Steel is seeking a Production Helper to assist in the fabrication of structural metal products at our Humble, TX facility. This role supports qualified welders and fabricators by lifting, moving materials, and preparing components for finishing.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED and at least 12 months of experience, with strong safety awareness and ability to read manuals. Training on cranes, forklifts, and grinders is provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 12 months experience or training.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and manuals.
• Familiarity with heavy fabrication equipment.
• Willingness to adhere to PPE and safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Lifts, positions, and removes workpieces from machines to assist in fitting and welding.
• Loads, stacks, and transports stock, tools, dies, and work in process by hand or truck.
• Cleans and scrapes metal preparatory to fabricating, welding, painting, or shipping.
• Picks up and trucks scrap from work areas.
• Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
• Perform other routine duties.
• Assist fellow employees as directed.
• Pass the tacking test on the following positions: Flat, Horizontal, Vertical and Overhead.
• Must adhere to and follow all safety rules and PPE requirements
