Opportunity

This role is a Structural Staff Engineering Technician supporting the development of high‑quality structural engineering deliverables for complex facility projects. The position applies advanced technical knowledge to assist with foundation and framing plans, elevations, sections, and details using Autodesk Revit, and conducts drawing reviews in Bluebeam to ensure accuracy, constructability, and compliance with design standards. Working closely with structural engineers and project teams, this position supports both conceptual and detailed design efforts to deliver consistent, mission‑aligned structural solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Under general direction, support engineering and design teams by developing and modifying technical deliverables.
• Apply foundational engineering principles and established design practices to create moderately complex design concepts and solutions.
• Utilize digital tools and design software (CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables.
• Provide technical guidance and may offer directions to other engineering professionals and technicians to ensure quality and consistency across project outputs.
• Apply knowledge of standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, applicable codes, and BV policies and procedures.
• Review project requirements and determine correct format and contents of deliverables.
• Apply BV Quality Program to deliverables, demonstrate personal accuracy and support continuous improvement and change management efforts.
• Ensure design inputs are consistent; ensure deliverables comply with applicable codes and standards.
• Apply basic engineering principles and established design practices in developing moderately complex design concepts and deliverables.
• Handle difficult technical assignments within an area of expertise and provide technical guidance to other professionals.
• Perform design calculations, detailed material quantities and estimates, and record work.
• Review deliverables of others and may define work assignments and maintain schedules.
• Program control systems or participate in other plant start‑up activities associated with a specialized area of expertise.
• Coordinate with other design group personnel to review and exchange project information necessary for design development.
• Support field activities and focus on internal client needs while understanding external client interests.
• Seek and share knowledge of latest technologies and processes.
• Apply judgment and make decisions regarding deliverables and input interpretation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate preferred.
• Associate degree in drafting or an engineering design related technology preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship required.
• Typically a minimum of 5 years related work experience.
• Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements, including background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search.

Work Environment / Physical Demands

• Office environment with prolonged sitting and computer use.
• Physical tasks during site visits, including crouching, grasping, and standing or walking for extended periods.
• Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after 90 days of employment, subject to manager discretion.
