Position
Structural Engineering Supervisor – Washington, DC; Maryland; or Virginia
Responsibilities
- Lead structural design for bridges, retaining walls, culverts, sign structures, and other transportation structures.
- Prepare and review designs, specifications, cost estimates, construction documents, and load ratings/analysis.
- Supervise, manage, and mentor staff within the structural group.
- Ensure compliance with Mead & Hunt policies and procedures and industry standards.
- Prepare technical and price proposals for tasks and contracts.
- Manage project deliverables, budgets, and schedules.
- Lead business development opportunities in the Mid‑Atlantic region.
- Participate in other civil engineering projects as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university AND at least 3 years of relevant civil engineering experience.
- Associate degree in civil engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university AND at least 5 years of relevant civil engineering experience.
- No degree but at least 7 years of relevant civil engineering experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- 12 years of industry‑related experience.
- PE license in any state, or ability to obtain a Maryland license within 6 months of hire.
- Certification in Safety Inspection of In‑Service Bridges.
- Bridge/Structural design experience, including LRFD concrete and steel design.
- Proficiency with structural design software (e.g., LARS, Merlin‑Dash, STAAD).
- Familiarity with AASHTO and Maryland standards.
- Experience with MicroStation and Auto‑CAD.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Project management and mentoring experience.
- Experience with business development tasks (client relations, proposal development).

Additional Information
Travel: Some travel will be required.
Salary Range: $135,000 to $200,000 annually (actual compensation may vary based on experience, skill set, or location).
