Job summary

BSI Engineering seeks an experienced Structural Engineering Manager to lead the Structural team for industrial facilities across chemicals, food & beverage, pharmaceuticals, and aviation industries. You’ll guide engineers, oversee steel, concrete and FRP designs, mentor staff, and drive technical excellence in a growing, employee-owned company.

Qualifications

PE license required.
10+ years of structural engineering experience in industrial, manufacturing, or related environments.
Experience leading people and projects as a manager.
Expertise with steel, concrete, masonry, and structural systems.
Strong knowledge of IBC, ASCE, ACI 318, AISC, NDS and related standards.
Experience with structural analysis software (RISA 3D, MathCAD preferred).

Responsibilities

As Structural Engineering Manager, you'll guide a team of engineers, oversee diverse industrial projects, and play a key role in developing talent, driving innovation, and advancing the capabilities of our Structural discipline.

Essential Functions:

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of structural engineers and designers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and professional growth.
Provide technical leadership for the design and analysis of steel, concrete, masonry, timber, and specialty structural systems supporting industrial and manufacturing facilities.
Guide the successful execution of structural projects by balancing technical quality, project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
Serve as a trusted advisor to project teams and clients, helping develop practical, cost-effective solutions to complex engineering challenges.
Oversee structural designs, calculations, specifications, and construction documents to ensure accuracy, constructability, and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Champion innovation within the Structural discipline through the evaluation and implementation of new technologies, engineering tools, design methodologies, and advanced analytical techniques.
Support the continued growth of BSI's structural capabilities, including specialized applications such as Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) systems, facility modifications, equipment support structures, and industrial infrastructure.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including process, mechanical, electrical, and architectural professionals to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
Participate in field investigations, facility assessments, and construction support activities to ensure designs align with real-world operating conditions.
Support recruiting, hiring, succession planning, and employee development while helping shape the future of the Structural Engineering team.
Develop strong relationships with clients, contractors, and business partners, contributing to repeat business opportunities and long-term partnerships.
Review, approve, and seal engineering deliverables as required while maintaining BSI's commitment to technical excellence and quality.

Demonstrated expertise designing steel, concrete, masonry, and structural support systems.
Strong knowledge of IBC, ASCE, ACI 318, AISC, NDS, and related structural design standards.
Experience performing structural analysis and engineering calculations using industry-standard software.
Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
Ability to balance technical responsibilities with personnel development and client engagement.
Experience with RISA 3D and MathCAD highly preferred.
