Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. is inviting a Structural Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 within our Advanced Facilities group. You will assist in structural analysis and design for projects, collaborating with world-class professionals in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires a junior-year Civil Engineering student with a 3.0 GPA, strong communication and teamwork, and a willingness to work from the Phoenix area with hybrid office/remote work arrangements.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled at least in junior year of a Civil Engineering program with emphasis in Structural Engineering.
  • GPA 3.0 or higher.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, conceptual, organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to work in a team, self-motivated, productive.
  • Must be within 50 miles of the Phoenix office and able to work in the office full time.
  • Visa Sponsorship is not available for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Perform conventional Structural Engineering analysis and design under supervision.
  • Develop judgment in selecting engineering techniques and criteria with guidance.
  • Build engineering judgment and problem-solving skills, seeking guidance when needed.
  • Learn lateral analysis and design concepts (wind and seismic) and apply building code provisions.
  • Maintain high attention to detail and quality control, review own work and consult peers/seniors as needed.

Your impact

As a Structural Engineering Intern Professional, you will gain real-world experience in Structural Engineering as you will be counted on to assist in the performance of Structural analysis and design for our projects. You will need strong communication and interpersonal skills as you work alongside world-class professionals in a fast-paced, professional setting which will provide you with invaluable experiences applying the knowledge and skills learned through education in a business environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Under close supervision, competently perform conventional aspects of Structural Engineering analysis and design
  • With guidance and direction, develop judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria
  • Develop engineering judgement and problem-solving skills, not hesitating to reach out to others for guidance or confirmation when questions arise
  • Develop knowledge of principles and practices of lateral analysis and design (wind and seismic), including ability to apply required provisions of the building code
  • Exhibit a high level of attention to detail and quality control, being committed to checking your own work and reaching out to peers and seniors for guidance when

The base salary range for this position is $40,000.00 to $60,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
