Job summary

AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in Boston for an internship in Structural Engineering to start Summer 2027. The role will involve supporting the design, analysis, and inspection of bridge and tunnel projects under senior staff, with opportunities to participate in fieldwork and report writing.

Based in Boston, the intern will work under project engineers to develop calculations, drawings, and plans, and gain exposure to CAD software, MathCAD, and modelling tools

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with at least one year of study completed.
• Experience with Excel and MS Word is preferred.
• CAD programs such as AutoCAD are a plus; MathCAD and modeling software are a plus.

Job Description

AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in Boston on October 21-22. This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2027.

The event kicks off on Wednesday evening with a networking mixer, where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects, career paths, and the company itself. You’ll also have the chance to meet other students, recent graduates, and AECOM professionals from across our business lines.

On Thursday, interviews will take place at our Boston office. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities.

AECOM is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern to be based in Boston, MA

This position is expected to begin in Summer 2027.

This intern position is to work under the direction of project engineers and team members to assist in the design, analysis, or inspection of bridge and tunnel projects. Work could include producing design calculations, plans, estimates, specifications, performing inspections, or writing technical reports, under the direction of senior staff.

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

• Assist with report writing and setup.
• Development of field forms.
• Assist with data entry, editing and creation of drawings and table/charts.
• Development of plans and details utilizing CAD.
• Development of engineering calculations utilizing examples and guidance of senior engineers.
• Support senior and junior engineers with engineering related tasks.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and must have completed 1 year of study.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Excel and MS Word.
• Experience with CAD programs such as AutoCAD is a plus.
• Experience with MathCAD is a plus.
• Experience with modelling software is a plus.
