Job summary

Thornton Tomasetti's Structural Engineering practice invites an Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 in West Hartford, CT. You will gain hands-on experience on real-world projects—from high-rise structures to cultural institutions—collaborating with engineers, architects, and designers in a dynamic team environment.

You will contribute to structural analysis and detailing of steel, concrete, masonry and timber systems, and assist in preparing construction documents within a BIM workflow using

Qualifications

• Current undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in civil, structural, or architectural engineering.
• Strong academic record and a demonstrated passion for structural design and engineering problem solving.
• Familiarity with tools like SAP2000, ETABS, RAM, StructurePoint Software, and Revit are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the structural analysis, design and detailing of steel, concrete, masonry and timber systems across a variety of building project types.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and other design professionals to support the delivery of high-quality, coordinated designs.
• Assist in preparing construction documents and drawings within a BIM environment, gaining practical experience with industry‑standard tools, workflows, and documentation practices.
