Job summary

Thornton Tomasetti is seeking an Engineer Intern for our Structural Practice in Maine for Summer 2027. You will gain hands-on experience on real projects, collaborating with engineers and architects to support structural design, analysis and documentation in a BIM workflow.

Ideal candidates are current undergraduates or graduates with a passion for structural engineering and a strong academic record. The role offers a competitive pay range of $25 to $35 per hour and opportunities for learning

Qualifications

• Current undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in civil, structural, or architectural engineering.
• Strong academic record and a demonstrated passion for structural design and engineering problem solving.
• Familiarity with SAP2000, ETABS, RAM, StructurePoint Software, and Revit are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the structural analysis, design and detailing of steel, concrete, masonry and timber systems across a variety of building project types.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and other design professionals to support the delivery of high‑quality, coordinated designs.
• Assist in preparing construction documents and drawings within a BIM environment, gaining practical experience with industry‑standard tools, workflows, and documentation practices.
