Job description

Arcadis is the world's leading company delivering sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets.

We are more than 36,000 people, in over 70 countries, dedicated to improving quality of life. Everyone has an important role to play. With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world’s most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.

Role Description:

Arcadis is actively building a talent pipeline of experienced Structural Engineers to join our Resilience Water team. This forward-looking opportunity reflects our ongoing commitment to addressing the challenges of climate change, urbanization, and environmental sustainability in the water sector.

At Arcadis, we are driven by a shared purpose: to protect natural ecosystems, preserve vital water resources, and support the development of resilient, sustainable communities for future generations.

Role Accountabilities:

As a Structural Engineer in the Resilience Water team, you will play a key role in designing and implementing structural solutions for a wide range of infrastructure projects. These may include upgrades to water and wastewater treatment facilities, shoreline stabilization efforts, stormwater management systems, and resilient distribution/collection infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and evaluate structural design alternatives based on site conditions, project requirements, and regulatory constraints.
  • Conduct structural assessments and perform engineering analyses to inform project planning and development.
  • Prepare technical deliverables, including engineering calculations, design drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to produce innovative and sustainable designs in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Support project management by monitoring budgets, timelines, and deliverables to ensure successful execution.
  • Participate in site visits, client meetings, and other project-related travel, as necessary.

Key Skills & Experience:

To succeed in this role, you should bring proficiency in structural design software, particularly STAAD Pro, along with practical experience using AutoCAD and Revit. A thorough understanding of relevant codes and standards—such as the International Building Code (IBC) and American Concrete Institute (ACI) guidelines—is essential. You will be expected to demonstrate your ability to prepare and review a wide range of engineering documentation, including technical drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and project schedules. Strong written and verbal communication skills are key, especially in the context of technical writing and documentation. You will thrive in this position if you excel in a collaborative, team-oriented environment and are passionate about sustainability and innovative design solutions.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related field
  • 5 years of structural engineering design experience, preferably supporting water/wastewater infrastructure projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline
  • EIT certification or PE license strongly preferred

*This is a prospecting position, reflecting our commitment to building a talent pipeline to address future challenges in water resilience and sustainability.
