Job summary

M.C. Dean is seeking a Structural Engineer for our Virginia site to design, analyze, and oversee structures for datacenters and critical infrastructure. You will collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to deliver stamped drawings and compliant, cost-effective solutions.

The role requires PE licensure, 5+ years of structural experience, and strong analytical and communication skills to support project timelines and budgets onsite in Virginia.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master's degree is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in structural engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze structures for safety, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Serve as the design lead and stamp drawings with structural consultants as needed.
  • Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal codes and standards.
  • Address design and construction issues with technical guidance.
  • Prepare and present design documentation and progress reports.

The Structural Engineer will be responsible for designing, planning, and overseeing the construction of structures to ensure they are safe, sustainable, and cost-effective. This includes buildings, bridges, tunnels, and other infrastructure. The Structural Engineer will collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to deliver high-quality projects.

Responsibilities
Design and Analysis
  • Perform calculations to ensure structures can withstand various loads and forces and stamp our own drawings
  • Analyze building materials for strength, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Work with design engineers to produce standard designs
Project Management
  • Be the single point of contact for all design engineers sending work out to multiple structural consultants.
  • Manage the work load to structural consultants with quickest turnaround in mind
  • Participate in meetings with structural consultants to ensure that they have all necessary inputs and produce a high-quality stamped drawing
  • Manage project timelines and budgets relative to structural analysis
  • Support questions coming from construction site related to structural analysis
Compliance and Standards
  • Ensure all designs adhere to local, state, and federal building codes and regulations.
Problem Solving
  • Identify and resolve design and construction issues.
  • Provide technical advice and support during construction phases.
Documentation and Reporting
  • Prepare and present reports, proposals, and other documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of design changes and project progress.
  • Coaching new engineers in making cost effective and easy to manufacture designs
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in structural engineering or a related field.
  • Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license
Skills
  • Proficiency instructural analysis software and other engineering design tools.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in work.
Work Location

100% onsite role based in Ruther Glen, Virginia.

Pay Range

USD $104,240.00 - USD $130,300.00 /Yr.
