Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil) with a minimum of 2 years of experience in aerospace structural analysis, or a master’s degree with no experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience; master’s with 3 years; or a PhD with no prior experience.
  • Experience in bonded composite OR metallic structural analysis of primary and secondary aircraft structures.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis methods and documentation, including hand-sheet analysis and large Finite Element Model manipulation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret clearance; clearance not required to start.

Responsibilities

  • Perform stress analysis for primary and secondary structures.
  • Review completed analyses, drawings, and repairs for accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines during the design development process.
  • Present and explain structural issues and solutions to management and customers.
  • Maintain and improve part designs, equipment, and systems to support post-production deliveries.
  • Develop practical solutions that align with program objectives.
  • Evaluate as-built products for compliance with standards and specifications.

Northrop Grumman Aeronautic Systems is seeking a Structural Analysis Engineer or Principal Structural Analysis Engineer to join our diverse team in Clearfield, UT.

This position is for the 1st shift with a 9/80 work schedule.

The primary role involves conducting structural modification stress analysis in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for an engineer who can analyze, research, and develop structural engineering specifications primarily for metallic structures.

Responsibilities include analyzing metallic airframe structures, as well as performing analysis using tools such as FEMAP, NX NASTRAN and other software applications.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform stress analysis for primary and secondary structures.
  • Review completed analyses, drawings, and repairs for accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
  • Collaborate effectively with other disciplines during the design development process.
  • Present and explain structural issues and solutions clearly to internal management and customers.
  • Maintain and improve part designs, equipment, and systems to support post-production deliveries.
  • Develop comprehensive and practical solutions to complex problems that align with program objectives.
  • Evaluate as-built products for compliance with standards, procedures, and specifications.
  • Utilize structural analysis methods and documentation, including hand-sheet analysis and manipulation of large Finite Element Models.

Position may be filled as either an Engineer (Level 2) OR Principal Engineer (Level 3) depending on the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil) with a minimum of 2 years of experience in aerospace structural analysis, or a master’s degree in engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil) with no experience required.
  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil) with a minimum of 5 years of experience in aerospace structural analysis; a master’s degree in engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil) with a minimum of 3 years of experience; or a PhD with no prior experience required.
  • Experience in bonded composite OR metallic structural analysis of primary and secondary aircraft structures.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis methods and documentation, including hand-sheet analysis and large Finite Element Model manipulation.
  • Familiarity with the structural application of Finite Element Methodologies.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret clearance; clearance not required to start employment.
  • Must have the ability to obtain any Program Special access required within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using FEMAP and NX NASTRAN
  • Experience working on military aircraft.
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD regulations as they pertain to aerospace structures.
  • Experience presenting technical topics and interfacing directly with the customer.

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.

Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.

Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.

In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
