Structural Engineer (PE) - Residential Design Lead | Central FL

Location: Maitland, FL (Orlando, FL area)

Position Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire with full benefits provided

Salary Range: ~$90K–$120K+ (negotiable for the right candidate)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, ~8AM–5PM

About the Role

An employee-owned A&E firm in Orlando seeks a Structural Engineer (PE) to join as a Design Team Lead. This full-time, permanent position focuses on single-family residential projects, with opportunities in light commercial work.

Responsibilities

1. Lead design and serve as certifying engineer on residential and commercial structural projects
2. Perform structural analysis and design of wood/masonry structures and framing systems
3. Oversee foundation design, including shallow/spread and deep foundations
4. Develop structural calculations and detailed construction documents
5. Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and consultants to ensure timely and budget-conscious delivery
6. Respond to RFIs, conduct site and design reviews, and support construction activities
7. Interpret engineering specifications, drawings, and contracts
8. Mentor junior staff and conduct QA reviews
9. Build positive relationships with project stakeholders

Qualifications

1. Active Florida PE license
2. 3–5+ years of experience with wood and masonry structures
3. Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D
4. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
5. Experience with RISA 3D
6. Familiarity with Florida and International Building Codes
7. Experience with engineered wood products and metal plate connected wood trusses
8. Comfort working with steel, wood, masonry, and concrete (up to three stories)

Preferred Skills

1. Revit experience
2. Experience in light commercial projects
3. Background in A&E firms, structural consultancies, or home building
