Job summary

Pond & Company in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Mid-Senior Structural Engineer to lead project teams and mentor junior staff. The role requires 8+ years of structural design experience and licensure prospects, with exposure to multidisciplinary collaboration.

You will perform scope evaluation, project planning, technical reviews, construction administration, and quality control while supporting design-build efforts.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant structural design experience across civil, industrial, and infrastructure projects.
• ABET-accredited civil engineering degree.
• SE licensure or ability to obtain within six months; additional licenses are a plus.
• Experience with analytical design software and structural modeling (RISA 3D preferred).
• Experience in drawing production using Revit and/or AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC; non-building structures experience preferred.
• Knowledge of ACI 350, API 620, 650, 653; AWWA D100 also considered.
• Understanding of DOD/Federal design standards and UFCs (preferred).
• Experience designing deep foundations and soil improvements, coastal environments

About the Position

We are searching for a Mid-Senior Structural Engineer to join our Professional Design Group. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of relevant structural design experience and will be responsible for training, mentoring, and developing junior staff while providing expertise to clients and collaborating with in-house multidisciplinary teams. The role will involve scope evaluation, project planning, technical review, construction administration, quality control, and supporting Pond's construction management group in design-build efforts. Additional experience in supporting multiple markets will be a plus. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects across different industries. Experience and Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant structural design experience, preferably related to industries such as civil, industrial, and infrastructure
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
• Structural Engineering (SE) license or the ability to obtain SE licensure within six months (additional licenses are a plus)
• Experience using analytical software to design isolated structures and full buildings (preferred experience with RISA 3D)
• Experience in drawing production using Revit and/or AutoCAD
• Knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including but not limited to IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC (specific experience with non-building structures is preferred)
• Familiarity with ACI 350, API 620, 650, and 653 (AWWA D100 also considered)
• Understanding of DOD/Federal design standards and UFCs (preferred)
• Specific experience in the design of deep foundations and/or specification of soil improvements, particularly in coastal environments
