Job description

The Department of Design & Construction, Civil Division is hiring for a Structural Engineer IV in Honolulu.

What You Will Do
  • Coordinate and oversee the development of the project plans, reports, permits, specifications, and cost estimates for projects such as bridges, utility adjustments, stream transitions, retaining walls, drainage structures, earth stabilization mitigation improvements, rockslide mitigation, and other concrete, steel, and timber structures.
  • Participate in the consultant selection process and contract negotiations.
  • Maintain project administration of the project by monitoring the project schedule, reviewing consultant invoices, and preparing contract amendments as necessary.
Special Working Conditions
  • Regular hours anticipated but may require evening, weekend, or holiday work to accommodate emergency situations.

Education Requirement

Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four year college or university with a bachelor's degree in an engineering specialty.

Experience Requirement

License Requirement
  1. Possession of a valid license as a professional structural engineer in the State of Hawaii.
  2. Valid Hawaii State driver's license (Type 3/automobile), as required. The current vacancy requires a driver's license.

Applicants with a current out-of-state professional structural engineer license must obtain their Hawaii license prior to appointment.
