Job summary

Dennis Group is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to support our food facility projects across the United States. You will design, permit, and supervise construction for industrial and commercial structures, leading a team of engineers and coordinating with other disciplines.

The role requires 8+ years of structural experience, a PE license, and proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit. Travel about 15 days per year is expected. We offer competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering required.
  • 8+ years of structural experience in industrial/commercial buildings.
  • Experience with calculations and creating analysis models for structural designs.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit drafting.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Willingness to travel 15 days per year.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, permitting, and construction of food facilities nationwide.
  • Lead hand calculations and develop analysis models for structural designs.
  • Coordinate structural work with other disciplines.
  • Draft sketches, contract drawings, and specifications using AutoCAD.
  • Review project documentation for conformity and quality assurance.
  • Lead in estimating construction costs with take-offs and historic costs.
  • Conduct field inspections and prepare reports.
  • Provide coaching/mentoring to the team.

About the Job

We are seeking talented individuals to support our building structural practice (industrial & Commercial buildings).Youwill play a key role in the design, permitting, and construction of food facilities throughout the United States.You Will be a member of our structural department and responsibilities will include, but notbelimited to:

  • Applying extensive and diverse knowledge of principles and practices for a wide range of materials and construction techniques.
  • Lead in performing hand calculations and creating computer analysis models for structural design tasks.
  • Lead in coordinating structural work with other disciplines
  • Drafting sketches, contract drawings, and specifications using AutoCAD.
  • Reviewing project documentation for conformity and quality assurance.
  • Reviewing shop drawings, submittals, and calculations
  • Lead in estimating construction costs with quantity take offs and historic costs
  • Conducting field inspections & condition assessments and prepare reports
  • Researchingstructural engineering materials and best practices
  • Supporting talent growth within our organization
  • Assists with interviewing and hiring new team members
  • Handle complex issues and tasks with minimal supervision and advise subordinate team members on solutions to issues they encounter.
  • Provide coaching and/or mentoring to a subordinate group when directed by supervisor.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
  • 8+ years of relevant structural experience (industrial and commercial building structure)
  • 8+ years of experience performing calculations, creating analysis models for structural designs
  • 8+ years of experience in structural and concrete drafting sketches, contract drawings, and specifications using AutoCAD and Revit
  • RAM Structural system and RAM Elements knowledge or experience is a plus
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Detailed planning and organization skills.
  • Experience with structural analysis software
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed (15 days a year)
