Job summary

Dennis Group is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to support industrial and commercial projects in Georgia. You will perform calculations and develop analysis models for structural designs, draft contract drawings, and ensure code compliance across multiple disciplines.

The role requires 0–3 years of related experience, familiarity with RAM and structural analysis software, and travel to project sites about 15 days per year.

Qualifications

• 0-3 years of relevant structural experience or schooling in industrial and commercial building structure.
• Strong experience or schooling performing calculations and creating analysis models for structural designs.
• 0-3 years in structural and concrete drafting sketches, contract drawings, and specifications using AutoCAD and Revit.
• RAM Structural System and RAM Elements knowledge or experience is a plus.
• Detailed planning and organization skills.
• Experience with structural analysis software.
• Ability to travel to project sites as needed (15 days a year).

Responsibilities

• Apply extensive and diverse knowledge of principles and practices for materials and construction techniques.
• Perform hand calculations and create computer analysis models for structural design tasks.
• Determine the correct building code and locate local amendments.
• Document gravity, wind, and seismic design loads.
• Design structural framing systems (steel, composite steel, joists) and foundations (Spread footings, drilled piers).
• Estimate foundation types and sizes and preliminary steel sizes.
• Coordinate structural work with other disciplines and review geotechnical reports.
• Draft sketches, contract drawings, and specifications using AutoCAD.
• Review project documentation, shop drawings, submittals, and calculations for conformity and QA.
• Conduct field inspections and prepare reports; research materials and best practices.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Apply extensive and diverse knowledge of principles and practices for a wide range of materials and construction techniques.
• Perform hand calculations and create computer analysis models for structural design tasks.
• Determine the correct building code
• Locate any local or site-specific amendments to the building code
• Document gravity design loads, wind design loads, and seismic design loads
• Work with and design common structural framing systems (steel, composite steel, joists)
• Work with and design common foundations systems (Spread footings, drilled piers)
• Estimate foundation types & sizes and preliminary steel sizes
• Coordinate structural work with other disciplines
• Review geotechnical reports
• Design mat slabs for process tanks, vessels, and silos
• Design pipe bridges
• Perform take offs from structural plans
• Contact potential bidders for preliminary budget estimates
• Field measure existing structures to gather necessary information
• Draft sketches, contract drawings, and specifications using AutoCAD.
• Review project documentation for conformity and quality assurance.
• Review shop drawings, submittals, and calculations
• Estimate construction costs with quantity take offs and historic costs
• Conduct field inspections & condition assessments and prepare reports
• Research structural engineering materials and best practices

Required Education Skills And Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
• 0-3 years of relevant structural experience or schooling in industrial and commercial building structure
• 0-3 years of experience or schooling performing calculations, creating analysis models for structural designs
• 0-3 years of experience or schooling in structural and concrete drafting sketches, contract drawings, and specifications using AutoCAD and Revit
