Job summary

Garver’s Water Design Center in Greenville, SC seeks an Entry Level Structural Engineer to design concrete and steel structures for water and wastewater facilities. You will contribute to layouts, calculations, drawings, 3D models, and cost estimates as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The role offers growth through mentorship, exposure to site assessments, and occasional construction support. AABET-accredited degree and EIT-ready status are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 0-1 year structural design experience; EIT eligibility or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Basic understanding of concrete and structural steel design.

Responsibilities

  • Produce structural designs for water/wastewater infrastructure components.
  • Develop finite element models and perform design calculations.
  • Coordinate with BIM designers and other disciplines for drawings and 3D models.
  • Prepare construction cost estimates and review project submittals.

We’ve got an opportunity for you here at our Water Design Center (WDC) in Greenville, SC.

As part of Garver’s growing WDC, you’ll be part of a project team producing structural designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, lift stations, and other ancillary infrastructure associated with water and wastewater projects. You’ll be engaged in structural layout, design calculations, coordinating with other BIM structural designers, and performing quality reviews. You’ll travel occasionally when a project requires a site assessment as well as support during construction.

What you’ll do:
  • Produce structural designs for clarifiers, process basins, filters, admin buildings, pump stations, lift stations, tanks, vaults, retaining walls, and other ancillary structures associated with water and wastewater infrastructure projects
  • Develop complex finite element models to analyze various structures.
  • Complete structural design calculations for concrete, steel, aluminum, and masonry
  • Oversee the development of construction drawings and 3D models while coordinating between various disciplines
  • Prepare construction cost estimates
  • Coordinate with geotechnical subconsultants
  • Support construction projects by reviewing submittals and site visits
What you’ll bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • 0-1 year structural design experience
  • Engineer In Training (EIT) or ability to obtain a EIT registration within 6 months
  • Basic understanding of structural engineering design with concrete, and structural steel
Bonus points if you bring these, too:
  • Master’s degree in civil or structural engineering
  • Understanding of the structural complexities associated with water and wastewater treatment equipment
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Revit
  • Experience using Bluebeam
  • Experience working with a diverse disciplinary team, including process, civil, building mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation and control disciplines
