Job summary

PND Engineers in Anchorage, Alaska is seeking an entry-level Structural Engineer (EIT) to grow under mentorship on bridge and waterfront projects. You will contribute to designs, calculations, and documentation, gaining hands-on experience from senior engineers.

You’ll learn construction drawing with AutoCAD, perform inspections, and collaborate across site-civil, surveying, geotechnical, and permitting teams to broaden your skill set.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • F.E. exam passed or within six months of hire.
  • Familiarity with structural analysis software (RISA 3D, SAP) and AutoCAD is helpful but not required—we’re ready to teach!
  • Team-oriented mindset with willingness to learn from experienced engineers.
  • Knowledge of basic structural principles and codes/standards; strong technical writing.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally and perform fieldwork.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities
  • As a Structural Engineer (EIT), work under the guidance of experienced engineers to assist with structural load determination, perform calculations, and design various bridge and waterfront structures, including:
    • Vehicle and pedestrian bridges
    • Gangways and trestles
    • Marine terminals
    • Harbors and marinas
    • Mooring and berthing structures
    • Piers, wharves, bulkheads, and quays
    • Breakwaters and shore protection structures
  • Learn to develop construction drawings using AutoCAD with mentorship from senior staff.
  • Participate in inspections and condition assessments of existing structures, and develop detailed technical reports with the support of your team.
  • Collaborate across disciplines such as site-civil design, surveying, geotechnical engineering, and permitting to broaden your skill set and industry knowledge.

  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (F.E.) exam or can do so within six months of hire.
  • Familiarity with structural analysis software (e.g., RISA 3D, SAP) and AutoCAD is helpful but not required—we’re ready to teach!
  • A team-oriented mindset and a willingness to learn from experienced engineers.
  • Knowledge of basic structural principles and a desire to deepen your understanding of design codes/standards and materials.
  • Strong communication skills, including technical writing.

  • A valid U.S. driver’s license, a good driving record, and vehicle insurance.
