Job summary

MKEC Engineering, Inc. in Overland Park, KS is seeking a Structural Engineer to design industrial and commercial projects, prepare calculations, and coordinate with clients.

The role focuses on steel and concrete structures, drawing production, and material specification choices. The ideal candidate has 3–6 years of experience, a Civil/Structural or Architectural Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program, and may hold or be on track for a Kansas PE license.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil/Structural or Architectural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 3–6 years of relevant experience.
• PE license in Kansas preferred or on track to obtain a PE license.
• Exposure to structural drafting software (AutoCAD, CadWorx, Revit, etc.).
• Exposure to structural analysis software (RISA, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Assist with the design and production of detailed design drawings, electronic models, specifications, written reports, and site observation reports.
• Complete structural calculations with different design materials, specifically with steel and concrete.
• Assist in the selection of the appropriate building materials.
• Prepare cost estimates for capital projects.
• Prepare and assist with project proposals, interviews, and client presentations.
• Attend client meetings to ensure the design meets their needs and objectives.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to production staff.

We’re looking for a Structural Engineer to join our team at our Overland Park, KS location (in office). This individual will assist with the design of a variety of industrial projects that may include equipment foundations, pipe racks, vessel replacements, etc., and commercial projects that may include schools, churches, hospitals, hotels, office buildings, etc.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the design and production of detailed design drawings, electronic models, specifications, written reports, and site observation reports.

Requirements

• Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to handle multiple project tasks. Excellent presentation, written communication, time management, and organizational skills are required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Ability to work under pressure, be self-directed, exhibit good business judgment, and handle confidential information appropriately.
• Compliance with MKEC and client drug/alcohol and safety programs.
