Job summary

CMP Services is seeking a Structural Engineer Associate to support our team at the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). The role focuses on structural engineering design and review for school facilities projects, including plans, specs, cost estimates, and coordination with architects and contractors.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in structural or civil engineering, at least 3 years of relevant experience, and experience with school building construction is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in structural engineering or civil engineering with specialization in structural engineering.
• Three (3) years of full-time paid professional structural engineering experience.
• CA PE license is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, analyze and review design plans, specifications, estimates and reports for compliance with guidelines.
• Perform contract administration in reviewing structural services required of consultants and architects.
• Prepare structural design plans and cost estimates for concrete, steel, timber and masonry structures.
• Assist in reviewing project status and providing guidance to structural designers and staff.
• Review structural plans and calculations and assess feasibility of construction.
• Assist in design and layout of foundation, floor, wall and roof framing for major structures.
• Make recommendations to contractors and inspectors on structural issues during construction.
• Analyze environmental reports and soils data to inform foundation design.
• Prepare feasibility reports and scoping recommendations for proposed structures.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering with specialization in structural engineering
