Job summary

Amentum is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to lead a small team across multiple projects—from concept through construction. You will apply IBC/AISC/ACI/ASCE codes, perform STAAD/ANSYS analysis, and develop calculation packages for complex facilities.

Five+ years in structural design is required, with strong leadership and time-management skills. US Citizenship is required for portions of this work; on-site collaboration is expected in a dynamic multi-project environment.

Qualifications

• BS or MS Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related engineering field.
• 5+ years of experience in the design and analysis of structural systems.
• Proficient in finite element modeling (STAAD and/or ANSYS).
• Proficient in building codes such as IBC, AISC, ACI, and ASCE.
• Demonstrated leadership ability to lead a small team of engineers and drafters on structural design.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• US Citizenship required for portions of the work.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage other structural engineers and drafters through all phases of project planning, execution, and construction.
• Provide complete design solutions from concept to final design and construction.
• Apply design loading to structures using applicable building codes and design codes.
• Design and analyze structures to meet project requirements using hand and finite element analysis (STAAD/ANSYS).
• Develop engineering design calculation packages including static, dynamic, blast, vibration, and thermal stresses.
• Oversee 3D modelling and 2D construction drawings development.
• Develop construction bid packages with calculations, specifications, and drawings.
• Perform site inspections to ensure construction aligns with contract documents.
• Provide leadership for junior engineers and drafters.
• Coordinate design solutions with clients and other disciplines; present reports and conduct design review meetings.
