Structural Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design steel cold box structures, pipe racks, and all other structural elements of process plants.
• Produce plan, section, and elevation drawings of structures with sufficient detail needed for vendor bid packages and for vendors to produce fabrication drawings.
• Perform lateral and gravity analysis on structures to validate designs.
• Develop shipping and lifting requirements for equipment from 5 to 500 metric tons.
• Make technical recommendations and review vendor drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
• Follow established AISC, ASCE, IBC, and ACI standards.
• Participate in departmental training programs/seminars and online training.
• Ensure projects comply with schedule and budgetary requirements.
• Work efficiently as part of a team with leadership and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Resolve technical project issues, reviewing and making quality recommendations.
• The ideal candidate should be a self-starter with solid planning and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD (CADWorx a plus) and AutoCAD.
• Experience with cryogenic piping, cold boxes, and the Industrial Gases Industry is a plus.
• Experience with Robot, Tekla, and/or other industry-standard structural design software.
• Experience with Hilti design software and RAM Connection software.
• Understanding of pipe stress and pipe supports.
• Basic computer literacy - Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Excellent organization and communication skills.
• Ability to function in a team environment across multiple disciplines.
• PE license is a plus.
