Structural Design Engineer
Responsibilities
Design steel cold box structures, pipe racks, and all other structural elements of process plants.
Produce plan, section, and elevation drawings of structures with sufficient detail needed for vendor bid packages and for vendors to produce fabrication drawings.
Perform lateral and gravity analysis on structures to validate designs.
Develop shipping and lifting requirements for equipment from 5 to 500 metric tons.
Make technical recommendations and review vendor drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
Follow established AISC, ASCE, IBC, and ACI standards.
Participate in departmental training programs/seminars and online training.
Ensure projects comply with schedule and budgetary requirements.
Work efficiently as part of a team with leadership and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Resolve technical project issues, reviewing and making quality recommendations.
The ideal candidate should be a self-starter with solid planning and organizational skills.
Qualifications
Degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
Proficiency in 3D CAD (CADWorx a plus) and AutoCAD.
Experience with cryogenic piping, cold boxes, and the Industrial Gases Industry is a plus.
Experience with Robot, Tekla, and/or other industry-standard structural design software.
Experience with Hilti design software and RAM Connection software.
Understanding of pipe stress and pipe supports.
Basic computer literacy - Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
