Job summary

RMG – Rocky Mountain Group in Windsor, CO, seeks a Professional Engineer specializing in Structural Engineering for commercial and residential projects. Lead design solutions, manage complex projects from conception to completion, and contribute to a growing team focused on engineering excellence.

The successful candidate will lead projects, coordinate with clients and regulators, and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Colorado.
  • 5+ years of progressive structural engineering experience, including demonstrated experience as Engineer of Record (EOR).
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software (RISA 3D/2D, ETABS, SAP2000, or equivalent).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for construction drawing production and BIM coordination.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Proven ability to manage project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical project teams and mentor junior engineers.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information and sensitive matters with discretion and sound professional judgment.
  • Physical Abilities include: a. lift up to 30 pounds; b. walk job sites and climb ladders; c. site safety compliance; d. sit for long periods; e. keyboard dexterity; f. 40-hour work week with extra hours as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structural engineering design and analysis on commercial and residential projects, exercising independent professional judgment.
  • Prepare, review, and seal structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports as Engineer of Record (EOR).
  • Manage project scope, schedule, and budget in coordination with the Structural Department Director and project stakeholders.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies on assigned projects; explain recommendations to non-technical clients.
  • Conduct and document structural field observations, special inspections, and construction administration services; provide clear notes and reports.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to staff engineers, interns, and support staff.
  • Review and quality-check deliverables prepared by staff engineers prior to submittal.
  • Assist with business development activities including client relationship management, proposals, and presentations.
  • Support the Structural Department Director with department initiatives, process improvements, and staff development.
  • Perform other related duties as needed or required.

We operate out of three offices — Windsor, Englewood, and Colorado Springs — and this role requires a minimum of three days per week on-site at one of these locations.

Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Professional Engineer specializing in Structural Engineering for commercial and residential projects. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead innovative design solutions, manage complex projects from conception to completion, and contribute to the growth of a dynamic team dedicated to excellence in engineering.

Duties

Technical Leadership & Design

1. Lead structural engineering design and analysis on commercial and residential projects, exercising independent professional judgment.

2. Prepare, review, and seal structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports as Engineer of Record (EOR) in accordance with applicable codes and standards.

Project & Client Management

3. Manage project scope, schedule, and budget in coordination with the Structural Department Director and project stakeholders.

4. Serve as primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies on assigned projects. Ability to explain recommendations to non-technical clients.

5. Conduct and document structural field observations, special inspections, and construction administration services. Provide clear and concise notes and reports.

Staff Development & Quality Assurance

6. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to staff engineers, interns, and support staff.

7. Review and quality-check deliverables prepared by staff engineers prior to submittal.

Business Development & Organizational Support

8. Assist with business development activities including client relationship management, proposals, and presentations.

9. Support the Structural Department Director with department initiatives, process improvements, and staff development.

10. Perform other related duties as needed or required.

Requirements

1. Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Colorado (or ability to obtain Colorado reciprocity within 6 months of hire).

2. Minimum experience: 5+ years of progressive structural engineering experience, including demonstrated experience as Engineer of Record (EOR).

3. Strong proficiency in structural analysis and design software (RISA 3D/2D, ETABS, SAP2000, or

equivalent).

4. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for construction drawing production and BIM coordination.

5. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

6. Proven ability to manage project scope, schedule, and budget.

7. Demonstrated ability to lead technical project teams and mentor junior engineers.

8. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information and sensitive matters with discretion and sound professional judgment.

9. Physical Abilities include:

a. Must be able to routinely lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

b. Physical coordination to walk through job sites, including climbing ladders and working at heights.

c. Compliance with site safety requirements

d. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.

e. Dexterity of hands and fingers sufficient to perform keyboard activity.

f. Standard 40-hour work week, with additional hours as business needs dictate.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
