Job summary

Calhoun-Burns & Associates, A Kleinfelder Company in West Des Moines, IA is seeking a full-time Structural/Civil engineer (Professional Engineer or Engineer in Training) to support local bridge projects. You will collaborate with CAD Technicians, Construction Observers, Land Survey Chiefs and office staff on a range of tasks.

The role requires a Civil/Structural background, 5–10 years of experience preferred, Iowa PE or EIT or ability to obtain within 6 months, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
• 5–10 years civil/structural design experience preferred.
• Iowa PE license or EIT or ability to obtain within 6 months preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
• Proficiency with Bentley Microstation/OpenRoads and AutoCAD desired.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed technical engineering reports.
• Prepare plans and specifications for specific projects.
• Work with Construction Observers/Resident Technicians during all facets of construction.
• Assist Project Manager in completing project within budget and on schedule.
• Use Bentley Microstation/OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD to aid with design and plan preparation.
• Ability to work and train less experienced staff with design and plan preparation tasks.

We are currently seeking a full-time Structural/Civil to sit in our West Des Moines, IA office. Our team works with local communities on a wide range of bridge projects. We are looking for a Professional Engineer or Engineer in Training who would work with CAD Technicians, Construction Observers, Land Survey Chiefs and office staff in various capacities.
