Job summary

Calhoun-Burns & Associates, A Kleinfelder Company, is seeking a full-time Structural/Civil engineer to join the West Des Moines, IA office. The role involves working with community bridge projects, collaborating with CAD Technicians, Construction Observers, and land staff to deliver plans and reports.

The ideal candidate will hold a Civil/Structural degree, have 5–10 years of design experience, and be pursuing Iowa PE or EIT within six months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering required.
• 5–10 years of civil/structural design experience preferred.
• Iowa PE license or EIT certification or ability to obtain within 6 months preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
• Proficiency with Bentley Microstation/OpenRoads and AutoCAD desired.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed technical engineering reports.
• Prepare plans and specifications for specific projects.
• Work with Construction Observers and Resident Technicians during construction.
• Assist Project Manager in completing projects on time and within budget.
• Use Bentley Microstation/OpenRoads and AutoCAD to aid design and plan preparation.
• Train less experienced staff in design and plan preparation tasks.

Job description

We are currently seeking a full-time Structural/Civil to sit in our West Des Moines, IA office. Our team works with local communities on a wide range of bridge projects. We are looking for a Professional Engineer or Engineer in Training who would work with CAD Technicians, Construction Observers, Land Survey Chiefs and office staff in various capacities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare detailed technical engineering reports.
