Job description

Position Summary

The Structural Engineer will support the Structural team in the vision, planning, execution, and success of the Department across all company offices and clients to grow and expand our structural engineering services in line with corporate strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Design of concrete, masonry, steel, wood, and cold-formed steel structures, including components like footings, columns, beams, joists, trusses, retaining walls, diaphragms, chords, drag struts, shear walls, and moment/braced frames.
  • Calculate appropriate design gravity and lateral forces based on ASCE 7 standards.
  • Draft construction documents such as structural plans, sections, elevations, and details.
  • Conduct site investigations of existing structures, including buildings, bridges, and other structures.
  • Write and review assessment reports to identify deficiencies and support renovation or loading changes, adhering to client formatting guidelines.
  • Collaborate with project teams during all project phases: setup, drafting, design, review, and coordination.
  • Prepare and design improvement plans for various projects.
  • Modify and prepare construction documents, reports, specifications, and designs.
  • Analyze maps, reports, drawings, as-builts, test results, geotechnical reports, and surveys for design projects.
  • Assist with post-design support such as RFIs, submittal reviews, as-built preparations, and field observations.
  • Work with office staff and management to complete projects within budgets and deadlines.
  • Support the Senior Structural Engineer with technical deliverables including plans, calculations, and reports.
  • Uphold the quality standards of the Structural Engineering Department as outlined by the Structural Operations Manager.
  • Maintain high customer satisfaction by promptly addressing client concerns.
  • Participate in professional development activities and encourage team participation.
Required Skills / Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of structural/civil engineering principles, construction materials, methods, and procedures.
  • Proficiency in drafting and design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, RAM, STAAD, and other Autodesk programs.
  • Knowledge of BIM technology and Autodesk tools for implementation.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of structural engineering design experience, including designing buildings over 5 stories tall.
Certificates/Licenses
  • Professional Engineering license preferred.
Physical Demands

This role involves sitting, handling, standing, walking, talking, listening, and occasional physical activities such as climbing or reaching. Ability to lift up to 10 pounds and perform site inspections is required. Good vision and color perception are necessary for safety and accuracy.
