Job description

As a Structural Engineer within the Engineering division, you will be placed within a US client organization to perform the following:

Design and Drafting

1. Prepare detailed calculations, design drawings, and specifications for industrial, residential, and commercial projects.
2. Perform structural analysis and design of building structures, including Steel, Concrete, Wood, and Masonry, along with various connections, using governing codes, standards, engineering skills, and experience.
3. Design civil scope and foundations based on geotechnical reports.
4. Conduct simple evaluations by hand and analyze complex structures using software such as RISA, ETABS, or ENERCALC.
5. Develop project scope and cost estimates that are comprehensive yet cost-competitive.

Review and Correction

1. Develop construction scope packages and review shop drawings.
2. Review shop drawings and complete rebar schedules.
3. Review sketches, drawings, specifications, and other data to ensure conformity to design concepts.

Construction Documentation

1. Provide detailed drawings of structural components and connections.
2. Ensure final drawings meet quality standards.
3. Perform QA/QC checks and draft reviews.
4. Participate in building code research and ensure code compliance.

Coordination and Documentation

1. Collaborate with project managers and team members to meet deadlines and budgets, controlling costs and scope boundaries.
2. Serve as project manager for smaller projects or work within multidisciplinary teams.
3. Maintain organized revisions of project drawings and related files.

Key Responsibilities

1. Calculate loads and select structural members based on forces and service demands.
2. Design structural solutions for various projects, focusing on industrial projects.
3. Design foundations, tunnels, slab reinforcement, and steel structures.
4. Develop structural connections, verify field conditions, and interpret design codes.
5. Prepare reports, designs, drawings, and review updated submittals.
6. Interact with clients effectively.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Knowledge of codes such as IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC, and experience with RISA, ETABS, ENERCALC, STAAD.Pro, Revit, and AutoCAD.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience (non-freelance).

Desirable Skills and Experience

• US work experience.
• Experience with structural design of steel, wood, concrete, and masonry components.
• Experience in connection detailing.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and project management skills.
• Portfolio of work examples.
