Job summary

BKL is seeking a licensed, experienced Structural Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and delivery of complex building and infrastructure projects.

You will serve as the structural engineer of record on multidisciplinary project teams, mentor junior engineers, and engage clients.

The role requires Oklahoma SE licensure or reciprocity and 10+ years of practice, with travel mainly in the Tulsa metro and regional markets.

Qualifications

  • Active Structural Engineer (SE) license in Oklahoma or eligible by reciprocity within 3 months.
  • 10+ years of structural engineering experience with increasing responsibility.
  • B.S. in Civil/Structural or Architectural Engineering.
  • Proficiency with Revit, Bluebeam and BIM 360/ACC workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Act as Engineer-of-Record, signing and sealing structural documents.
  • Define project scope, schedule, and resource plans.
  • Coordinate with architects, MEP, civil, and construction teams from schematic design through close‑out.
  • Design and detail in steel, concrete, masonry, timber, and cold‑formed steel per codes.
  • Provide value‑engineering, constructability evaluation, and QA/QC.

Job description

BKL is seeking a licensed, experienced Structural Engineer to lead the structural design, analysis, and delivery of complex building and infrastructure projects. You will serve as the structural engineer of record on multidisciplinary project teams, mentor junior engineers, and play a visible role in client relations. Successful candidates bring a deep command of modern codes and analytical methods, proven leadership on projects from concept through construction, and communication skills to translate technical solutions into clear client value.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: B.S. in Civil/Structural or Architectural Engineering.
  • Licensure: Active Structural Engineer (SE) license in Oklahoma (or ability to obtain by reciprocity within 3 months).
  • Experience: 10+ years practicing structural engineering with increasing responsibility.
  • Software Proficiency: Revit, Bluebeam, and BIM 360/ACC workflows highly valued.
  • Field Skills: Capable of leading site observations, special inspections, and problem solving.
  • Soft Skills: Proficient written and oral communication and conflict‑resolution abilities.
  • Mobility: Willingness to travel for client meetings and site visits, primarily within the Tulsa metro and regional markets.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Leadership & Delivery
  • Act as Engineer-of-Record, signing and sealing structural documents.
  • Define project scope, schedule, and resource plans.
  • Coordinate with architects, MEP, civil, and construction partners from schematic design through close‑out.
Technical Expertise
  • Design and detail in steel, reinforced/pre‑stressed concrete, masonry, timber, and cold‑formed steel in accordance with IBC 2024, ASCE 7‑22, ACI 318‑19, AISC 360‑22, AASHTO LRFD, and related standards.
  • Provide value‑engineering, constructability, and quality control.
Client Coordination & Business Development
  • Cultivate long‑term client relationships; serve as technical adviser at project interviews and industry panels.
  • Assist in preparing winning proposals, fee estimates, and scope clarifications.
Team Lead & Quality Assurance
  • Direct and mentor a team of Structural EI’s
  • Oversee rigorous QA/QC reviews.
